Metals Department at MassArt provides a sequential program of experiences which combine direct practice with conceptual problem solving. By exploring the methods and motives behind both traditional and contemporary objects, students cultivate an awareness of their direct connection to the vitality of art in historic and contemporary culture.

The Metals Studio offers classes in general metalworking, jewelrymaking, enameling, knifemaking and blacksmithing. Jewelry classes take place in the Metals Studio and enameling classes in the Enameling Studio.
